Last year was a smashing success and the congregation of Church of the Cross blessed 200 children in the community with their generous contributions and gifts.
This year we are taking the challenge of providing 500 students in the Bayshore Gardens community with school supplies – backpacks included.
Our community is taking the brunt of the economic turn; the economy has not improved from last year and the cost of living continues to rise; making it even harder for parents to make ends meet. The Manatee County School Board continues to make cuts increasing the need for the community to step in and ease the burden. Our children matter, they are the future and we feel strongly about encouraging and promoting their education.
The Back to School Bash will give financial relief to a struggling community by offsetting the expense of school.
We have a large fundraising goal for Church of the Cross, Back to School Bash. The expected cost of supplying each child with school supplies is $25.00 a student for 500 students totally $12,500.00. We would greatly appreciate your help in achieving this goal. We are excited about the strong messages we are sending to children in the community that 1) they are a valued and important part of our community and 2) education is important.
